Trailer Transcript

Most of my trailer would have dancing within it as it is a dance film so therefore there would be more music playing than characters speaking. There will be some speaking in my film which is scripted below.

Music Decision

I decided to use this song as I have thought of many choreographic ideas to do to this song. I have found movements that would go with the song and suits the dance genre I want to have within my trailer.

Story Board

This is my storyboard. I decided to be different and not draw mine out as I wanted to experiment with photoshop but also I enjoy cartoon strips and decided to do my own.

Target Audiences

There are 4 main groups of target audiences:

  • Older Males (over 25)
  • Older Females (over 25)
  • Younger Males (under 25)
  • Younger Females (under 25)

In my mind I feel that the genre and theme of my movie would suit females mainly as, most of the time, women are more into dancing than males. I also feel that the younger generation would prefer my film as it is about their generation and also, in some dance films, are based on the 'streets' which would apply to the younger generation as they can relate to it.

Through research on my influences I found that younger females prefer these types of films.

Step Up 3:

Burlesque:

From the reviews I found it interesting that more males watched Burlesque out of the two as it is a rather girly film. In my view I feel that more males watched Burlesque because of the sexual dances and content within the film.

In both of the films females under 18 are the highest viewers. I feel this is because they can relate to the film and enjoy it more as many older viewers prefer a thicker plot.

I don't think that my film would appeal to any other target audiences because I feel that the younger generation would appeal more to my film rather than anyone who is older.

I feel that my film would appeal to my target audience as my niche factor is that it is not a 'typical dance film' with street dance or ballet it has a different style of dance which makes it more interesting and different.

Music

This is an idea of a song I would like to use within my trailer. I chose this song as it is not very well known but also has dramatic sounds that I feel would be good for choreography I am going to create for my trailer.

This song I found through searching youtube. I like it as I feel I can choreograph to it well but also it has a good beat which I feel would relate to my audience.

This song was also one of my discoveries, and possibly my favourite, as I enjoy the melody and also I can see my trailer suiting it.

This song is calm but also has a good beat I find this would be an effective way for my trailer to be noticeable but also different to a usual dance film trailer

Shot Ideas

Through watching 'Step Up 2' trailer I found some interesting shot involving mirrors which I found really effective.

I wanted to try and use some of these reflection shots as at some point in my film the main character will be cleaning the mirrors and dancing while doing it. I found that during this part of my trailer it would be effective to use the mirrors as effectively as it is here.

Another influence

The first 20 seconds of this video I find very interesting and I admire the sound. At the start the sound is muffled as if it is playing through her head phones. It then plays louder. I would like to use something like this along those lines as I like the effect and it incorporates the fact my dancer is in her won world.
